Marty Young, a Republican candidate for the U.S. Congress in Pennsylvania’s 6th District, has issued a statement addressing recent events in Minneapolis. The incidents involved federal immigration enforcement operations that escalated into violence, resulting in the deaths of Renée Good and Alex Pretti. Young criticized the lack of coordination and leadership at various government levels.

“The heartbreaking incidents in Minneapolis—where federal immigration enforcement operations spiraled into violence and loss of life—highlight a profound failure not rooted in ideology, but in a clear breakdown of coordination and leadership at the federal, state, and local levels,” Young said. He pointed out that jurisdictions refusing to honor federal detainers force enforcement actions into public areas, increasing risks for everyone involved.

Young also highlighted challenges faced by federal agents deployed without adequate planning or support. “Public safety cannot be improvised,” he emphasized, calling for deescalation from all parties to reassess protocols.

Drawing on his military experience, Young stressed the importance of clear command structures and proper personnel deployment. He noted that law enforcement officers need genuine support and communities deserve safety and constitutional rights protection.

Young criticized Congress for exploiting crises for political gain instead of focusing on solutions. He opposed threats of a government shutdown over these issues, arguing it would harm Americans without providing real solutions.

He also critiqued Representative Chrissy Houlahan’s rapid response to the situation as lacking understanding of the facts. “Leadership in these moments should be measured and solution-oriented,” he said.

As a congressional candidate, Young aims to restore competence and accountability in Washington by supporting law enforcement properly and prioritizing public safety over politics.

West Chester, PA — January 6, 2026 — Today, Marty Young, the endorsed Republican candidate for U.S. Congress in Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District, unveiled the Young Americans Plan (YAP)—a bold, targeted universal healthcare proposal that guarantees full coverage for every child, young adult under age 23, and every expectant mother, while lowering costs, restoring accountability, and delivering immediate economic relief to families and businesses across Chester and Berks Counties.

At a time when healthcare premiums routinely exceed mortgage or rent payments, and families are one medical emergency away from financial collapse or a GoFundMe, Young is putting forward what Washington has failed to deliver for decades: a serious, workable solution that addresses the real drivers of cost, complexity, and instability in the healthcare system.

“This is not a theoretical problem,” said Young. “It’s payroll. It’s jobs. It’s families trying to do everything right and still falling behind. Our system keeps rewarding professional fraudsters, corrupt politicians, government bureaucrats, and insurance middlemen while patients and doctors lose control—and families pay the price.”

“Families in PA-06 are being crushed by skyrocketing healthcare costs alongside unaffordable housing, childcare, utilities, and groceries,” Young added. “The Young Americans Plan attacks this crisis at its core—guaranteeing that no child, young adult, or expectant mother goes without the care they need, while removing these costs from family and employer budgets. Just as America guarantees public education for every child, we can and must guarantee their health. Washington’s failed approach has made life harder for the next generation. It’s time for leadership that delivers results and restores opportunity here at home.”

A Plan Shaped by Proven Experience, Not Ideology

The Young Americans Plan is the product of Young’s lived experience—as a father of four raising a family in West Chester, as an Army Chaplain who has walked alongside families through medical crises and uncertainty, and as a nationally recognized turnaround executive who has spent his career fixing some of the largest broken systems where failure meant thousands of layoffs, lost paychecks, and shuttered businesses.

In 2023, Young lived the consequences of large-scale insurance fraud firsthand when his company, Buckle, lost more than $15 million to the multi-billion dollar Vesttoo scandal. Marty and his team fought back, protected his people, and survived. Many others weren’t able to survive, resulting in state insurance guarantee funds footing the fraud bill and increasing everyone’s insurance premiums.

“That experience reinforced what I’ve seen over and over again,” Young said. “When highly regulated, government-backed systems are bloated, confusing, and unaccountable, families always pay the price. Healthcare is where this failure hits hardest.”

Young points to examples across the country—from massive insurance fraud scandals to the ongoing Feeding Our Future case in Minnesota, where hundreds of millions of dollars meant to feed children were stolen—as evidence of a system that moves too much money through too many hands with too little accountability. Whether it’s public programs or private insurance markets, the pattern is the same: fraud is rampant, costs rise, and families are left paying more for less.

           Different stories. Same conclusion.

A Different Kind of Republican—and a Serious Reform

Young’s proposal will surprise many: as a Republican, he is proposing guaranteed healthcare coverage for children, young adults, and expectant mothers, because it is the most responsible, cost-effective way to protect families, strengthen the workforce, and lower long-term healthcare costs for everyone.

“At some point, we have to stop confusing inaction with responsibility,” Young said. “Just as America guarantees public education for every child, we can and must guarantee their health. That isn’t just common sense—it’s the right thing to do."

Unlike Washington’s endless temporary fixes, the Young Americans Plan delivers durable reform that protects the most vulnerable, preserves private insurance options for adults, and reduces pressure on employers—without creating new bureaucracy. The proven solution is already in place.

           First Commitment

Universal healthcare coverage for every child and young adult in America from birth up to age 23.

No premiums, no deductibles, and no or low copays.

Full coverage for preventive care, vaccines, asthma inhalers, broken bones, mental health services, and all essential care.

By removing children from unstable insurance markets, the plan lowers overall premiums and simplifies coverage for working families.

           Second Commitment

Universal healthcare coverage for every expectant mother and her unborn child, from a positive pregnancy test through the baby’s first birthday.

Full coverage for prenatal care, delivery, NICU care if needed, newborn pediatric visits, and a full year of postpartum care for mothers.

Ensures healthier births, stronger families, and better long-term outcomes for children.

By fulfilling these commitments, the Young Americans Plan removes child and maternal healthcare costs from broken public programs and inefficient insurance markets—lowering premiums for adults, easing pressure on employers of every size, and delivering immediate affordability relief to working families, while preserving private coverage for adults.

“The Young Americans Plan gives families real protection and real breathing room,” said Young. “As a father raising four children in West Chester, I know these worries firsthand. In Congress, I will fight for solutions that put people first—securing the health of our kids and moms, cutting costs for everyone else, and making the American Dream of having a family achievable for the next generation.”

After nearly eight years in Congress, Rep. Chrissy Houlahan has offered no meaningful healthcare reform for families in PA-06. Costs have risen, access has narrowed, and Washington continues to rely on short-term patches that mask the problem while families fall further behind.

“Talking about healthcare isn’t the same as fixing it,” Young said. “Families in this district deserve more than self-serving political theatrics and temporary subsidies. They deserve solutions that actually work, and to be a part of the conversation.”

Young will begin a series of open town halls across the district to ensure voters are fully included in the conversation. The first, Fixing Healthcare Town Hall, will take place on January 25, where Young will present the Young Americans Plan in detail and take questions directly from residents.

West Chester, PA — 12/17/2025 — Yesterday, the Republican Committee of Chester County announced its early and enthusiastic endorsement of Marty Young for U.S. Congress in Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District.

In a decisive move to seize a historic opportunity, the Committee rallied around Marty Young — a proven problem-solver, veteran, and business leader — to take on incumbent Chrissy Houlahan in the 2026 general election. The early endorsement reflects overwhelming confidence in Marty’s ability to unite Republicans, independents, and undecided voters around a positive vision that puts Chester County families first.

Marty Young is a fourth-generation Pennsylvanian, West Chester Schools graduate, West Point alumnus, and Army National Guard Lieutenant Colonel. For more than two decades, he has served — and continues to serve — as an Army Chaplain, supporting soldiers and their families through mental health crises, homelessness, and the challenges of resilience and reintegration.

At the same time, Marty built a nationally recognized career as a turnaround executive, repeatedly called in to fix complex, high-stakes business problems. Over the course of his career, he has helped stabilize more than 100 companies, saved thousands of jobs, and even led one company from losing $1 million a day to earning $100 million a year.

Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District — spanning all of Chester County and portions of Berks County — has shifted politically in recent cycles and is now firmly competitive. With a closely divided electorate and growing dissatisfaction with incumbent Rep. Chrissy Houlahan’s record and public conduct, the district presents a clear and winnable opportunity for change. “Houlahan’s record shows she’s focused more on advancing national policy priorities of her

That’s what I’m running to do.”

Repairing a healthcare system that’s failing families — when people are paying more each month for healthcare than their mortgage and living one broken arm away from a GoFundMe, the system isn’t complicated — it’s broken. Marty is focused on practical solutions that lower costs, increase transparency, and put patients back in control instead of insurance companies and Washington insiders.

Chester County Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan and five other Democratic lawmakers unleashed a firestorm with a video telling service members and members of the intelligence community to refuse “illegal” orders.

In the video, “Don’t Give Up the Ship,” Houlahan, an Air Force veteran, said, “Americans trust their military” and warns against carrying out orders that “violate our Constitution.”

Houlahan complained to Fox News that people are taking the video the wrong way.

“I’m not telling people to ignore orders. I’m enormously frustrated with the way that this very sensible video is being interpreted in a really insidious way.”

Martin Young, a businessman, Army chaplain, and veteran, is running against Houlahan in 2026, reacted to the video on Facebook. Young noted that service members can talk to their chaplain for moral advice of their Judge Advocate General (JAG) for legal advice.

“There is a reason Congress created those roles,” the Republican said. “They exist to guide service members through hard situations without putting their careers, their units, or the mission at risk. Encouraging troops to bypass that support structure is not helpful, and it can mislead good people who are simply trying to do the right thing. Those of us who have worn the uniform understand how serious these issues are. That is why it is troubling to see members of Congress, like Chrissy Houlahan, telling troops to handle these situations in a way that could put them at risk unnecessarily. Every one of us who has worn the uniform knows the oath we take is serious. We honor it by using the system built to protect both the Constitution and the men and women who defend it.”

The Orders Project, created by the National Institute of Military Justice to assist military personnel in understanding their options when faced with orders they believe may not be legal, released this statement regarding earlier remarks by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.): “An order is lawful only if it comes from proper authority, serves a military purpose, and does not violate the Constitution, federal law, or international legal obligations. Personal disagreement or discomfort does not make an order unlawful.”

State Sen. Tracy Pennycuick was outraged.

“As a veteran in the U.S. Army, I am truly appalled that Democratic leaders in Congress called upon active-duty military service members and employees of our intelligence agencies to commit acts of treason against our country,” said Pennycuick (R-Montgomery).

Doylestown resident Peder Cox, a retired Army Lt. Colonel who was an infantry and special operations officer, as well as the son, grandson, brother, and uncle of career Army officers, suggested the Democrats’ video was typical behavior.

“To be expected from the morons that posted it,” said Cox. “First, you have to be able to prove the orders are illegal. To my knowledge, the Democrats don’t like the orders, so that makes them ‘illegal.’”

“They are full of it,” added Cox. “And are trying to make a big deal out of it, making mountains out of molehills. Especially the former Navy captain who’s been an over-the-top liberal his whole life.”

Sen. Dave McCormick said following a request for comment that “Not a single unlawful order is cited in this video — because there aren’t any. The video is inappropriate and unwarranted, and I didn’t hear any of these calls to defy orders when Democrats were using lawfare against President Trump, giving outlandish pardons, or intimidating tech companies to stop free speech.”

Meanwhile, President Trump unleashed a new round of Democratic furor on Thursday with his post to Truth Social: “This is really bad, and Dangerous to our Country. Their words cannot be allowed to stand. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP??? President DJT”

In another post Trump says, “ “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH.”

Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) said in part on X, “There should be no place for this violent rhetoric from our political leaders, and it shouldn’t be hard to say that.”

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) also said on X, “I strongly reject this dangerous rhetoric. Do not threaten Members of Congress. Republican or Democrat. It’s deeply wrong with no exceptions—ever.”

In addition to Houlahan, the lawmakers on the video were: Sen. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colo., Rep. Chris Deluzio, D-Pa., and Rep. Maggie Goodlander, D-N.H.

While it may seem early, the 2026 race to unseat incumbent Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan (D-Chester) is already underway.

Martin “Marty” Young hopes to secure the Republican nomination to challenge Houlahan, who has begun sending fundraising emails calling Young “a wealthy Republican businessman.”

Young, 54, is much more than a businessman. He grew up in West Chester, attended West Point, and served as an infantry officer until injuries cut short his combat career. After Sept. 11, Young returned to the Army, serving as a chaplain. “As an exchange student to Russia and Ukraine, I watched the Soviet Union collapse under Ronald Reagan’s leadership,” Young said. “So, joining the military was a calling.”

He is now a lieutenant colonel in the Army National Guard. One of his duties is helping bereaved families who come to Dover Air Force Base to witness the dignified transfer of their deceased loved ones. “One of the greatest honors of my life has been greeting our fallen heroes when they return to Dover and ministering to their families. It is a sacred duty and one of the reasons I continue to serve in the Army National Guard,” Young said. “It is a solemn reminder of the cost of our freedom and the responsibility we have to protect it.”

After leaving active duty, Young earned a master’s degree in operations research from Georgia Tech and an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business. He is an expert in corporate restructuring and is now a senior managing director with M3 Partners.

Guy Ciarrocchi, a Republican commentator who ran against Houlahan in 2022, praised Young. “Marty Young is an experienced engineer, veteran, and business executive—identical to Chrissy Houlahan, except Marty didn’t make his money off of a sneaker sweatshop in China,” said Ciarrocchi. “Marty is focused on practical solutions to real problems affecting our families and nation. If elected, he’ll do what Houlahan promised to do—yet has failed to do in four ineffective, partisan terms.”

Young convinced his wife, Sandy, to move back to West Chester from New York. They are raising four children, ages 11 to 18. “Pennsylvania has always been home, and we came back home,” he said. “My parents still live here. My kids go to school here. And our roots are pretty deep here.”

His paternal great-grandfather helped found Philadelphia’s Chinatown. His mother, an immigrant from Portugal, taught in Philadelphia public schools and later at West Chester East and Henderson high schools as a substitute teacher. His father is a chemical engineer at DuPont.

“I have traveled and lived in many places around the world, but Chester County has always been home,” Young said. “It is a special place, worth protecting for generations to come.”

When asked by DVJournal what he meant, Young explained: “I went to West Chester Area schools…I graduated from East. It was always what I would describe as moderate, centrist, commonsense Democrats and Republicans getting along and developing reasonable solutions. It was a place where you could raise a family easily. “You have a friend in Pennsylvania—that ethos, right?”

Young said running for Congress was not a “long-time desire.”

“It’s something that evolved over the last number of months. Where we live, we’re all ready for something different.” And Houlahan, he added, even though she claims to be moderate, “when you look at her voting record, it’s very far left.”

“I have friends I graduated with from East High School who now serve as police officers throughout Chester County,” Young said. “They were deeply let down when Chrissy Houlahan voted to take away qualified immunity. That vote wasn’t just out of step with the commonsense values of our community—it sent a message to the men and women who protect us that Washington won’t stand with them when it matters.”

“When you look at her voting record, it doesn’t seem congruent with the moderate, centrist culture we have in Chester and Berks counties.” With his background in the military and business, Young believes he will not face a learning curve if elected to Congress. “I can bring forth practical solutions, and that’s what’s really needed,” Young said. “A lot of things that are going on right now are not sustainable.”

He said record spending and bureaucratic inefficiency have been building over the last 50 years. Another problem, he argued, is that Congress has ceded too much of its power to the president. “If we don’t start fixing this now, certainly in my lifetime it won’t be fixable,” Young said. Healthcare, he added, is one example of an extensive, complicated system that nobody seems to be trying to fix.

“The hospital closings we’ve seen here in Chester County are a symptom of larger problems created by decades of bad laws,” Young said. “From the 1997 Balanced Budget Act to changes in the 340B program and the rise of pharmacy benefit managers, career politicians and lobbyists have built a healthcare system that now consumes 18 percent of our GDP. And almost no one is happy with it. Ross Perot warned about this in 1992, when healthcare was 12 percent of GDP. Thirty years later, the system is even more broken.”

“Congress needs to do its job, and it really hasn’t done its job in a long time,” Young said. “It needs people who can actually do the job. And I don’t see that right now.”
