Proven Leader. Trusted Neighbor.

Marty Young

Marty is a fourth-generation Pennsylvania native and a proud graduate of West Chester schools. His roots run deep — his great-grandfather helped establish Philadelphia’s Chinatown as one of Pennsylvania’s first Chinese immigrant families, and his mother immigrated from Portugal and taught at West Chester East and Henderson High Schools. His father, a chemical engineer at DuPont and Westtown graduate, showed Marty that you work hard, give back, and leave things better for those who come next.

After earning nominations from Senator John Heinz and Congressman Dick Schulze, Marty attended West Point and graduated in 1993. He served as an Infantry Officer until injuries ended his active-duty career. After 9/11, he returned to uniform as a U.S. Army Chaplain and today serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army National Guard, supporting soldiers and families through challenges like mental health, suicide, homelessness, and family resilience.

After leaving active duty, Marty earned a Master’s in Operations Research from Georgia Tech and an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business.

Over the last 25 years, he has built a national reputation as one of the country’s top restructuring executives, helping stabilize more than 100 companies in industries like defense, aerospace, manufacturing, and technology. One of his proudest moments was helping a cable company shift from losing $1 million a day to earning $100 million a year, keeping thousands of people employed, including neighbors here in Chester County.

Marty and his wife Sandy live in West Chester, where they are raising four children: Amanda, a Special Olympics athlete who hopes to become a teacher; James, an Eagle Scout and EMT preparing to study biomedical engineering at Penn State; David, a marching band member and aspiring Eagle Scout; and Daniel, a nationally ranked black belt and student leader. Sandy is active in the community, serving as a PTO president, church volunteer, and strong advocate for better education. Their family is rooted in faith, service, and a deep commitment to their community.

Marty has spent his life solving tough problems — leading soldiers, helping companies get back on track, and standing by families through hard times. He brings the discipline to cut waste, the experience to grow jobs, and the backbone to stand up for veterans, working families, and taxpayers. As both a father and a son of this district, Marty is committed to keeping Chester County a place where families can work, live, and build a future for generations to come.
